I didn’t start out wanting to redo my entire laundry room. I merely wanted to add some cabinets so that I had some additional storage but I literally can’t just do one thing in a room! Projects inevitably spiral and spiral until I’m suddenly adding wallpaper, changing a light fixture, ordering countertops…. etc. etc. etc. Anyone else like that? So here I am doing an entire laundry room makeover… haha. Here is where we are right now:
I ordered these cabinets from Lowes. My laundry room is an odd size and I didn’t want to have to trim the cabinets out so I couldn’t do cabinets all the way across the wall with off the shelf cabinets. I opted therefore to do two 24″ wide cabinets and to add a hanging bar between the two. I often hang sweaters and shirts to dry so the bar will be useful (and I won’t have to hang them over my stair case anymore haha). The bar was purchased at Home Depot but I haven’t hung it up yet because… I ordered wallpaper!
I haven’t hung the bar because I ordered some wallpaper and it will be much easier to install without the bar in the way. I took advantage of Serena and Lily’s Family and Friends sale and got it for 20% off. It’s a small space (I’m only doing the back wall where the cabinets are) so I only need 1 roll…hopefully ha.
The Light Fixture
I originally had a black schoolhouse light in this space. It’s this one. Although I still love it, it no longer works in the space with the wallpaper. So I swapped it out for a light I originally had purchased for my basement bathroom. It’s such a pretty light and I wanted to see it more often (and lets be real… I’m in the laundry room ALOT with 3 kids). So we swapped the two lights and I’m so happy with it.
Because the laundry cabinets don’t go to the ceiling (because I’d actually like to be able to reach into them haha) I had a gap between the cabinet and the ceiling. I found these baskets at Pottery Barn and they are the perfect fit, I actually couldn’t believe it! And I snagged them on sale too!
So that’s where we are right now. The wallpaper is on its way and I will install it next. I think I want to add a butcher block countertop and I also need to replace the plastic laundry tub with a nice cabinet/sink combo. I might also add some hooks and art. Because again… we’re spiraling haha
