As I’ve renovated and decorated our new home I’ve started to sway more towards a coastal decor style. We all know rattan and bamboo are a big trend right now which compliments a coastal vibe but I also just love the calming and happy feeling subtle touches of blue makes me feel. A favourite coastal store of mine is Serena and Lily but it’s also a pretty high-end, pricey store as well. Although I believe in investing in more expensive pieces I also believe in mixing high and low and that a beautiful home can be attained at every budget. So I’ve rounded up some of my favourite coastal decor items that are all gorgeous, super affordable and all from Ikea!

Pillow Covers – I love mixing more expensive pillow covers with cheaper ones. Ikea is a favourite go-to of mine for inexpensive pillow covers to add in to my decor. This navy pillow cover is velvet and adds such a luxe feeling to a space – especially in the colder months and around the holidays. This light blue one is such a pretty staple in a coastal home.
Mirrors – Ikea has so many good and large coastal inspired mirrors right now. These would look great over a console table or in a bathroom over a vanity. The perfect subtle touch of texture and the rattan trend. Click here for the right one above and here for the left.
Plants and planters – For me every coastal home needs a few plants… especially a fiddle leaf or bird of paradise… classic coastal plants. Ikea sells both real and faux plants (in case you don’t have a green thumb haha) and its often a go-to for planter pots too. They have lots of inexpensive and white / rattan / gold pots for all your plants. Click here for the white one shown above and here for the water hyacinth one.
Rug – Rugs can be expensive and if you have kids you know the two don’t always play nice together. Jute rugs are very coastal and I have this jute rug in one of my sons rooms and its held up really well. I also love this light blue and cream stripe rug as well.
Slipcovered furniture – I have the farlov sofa and its held up really well. Slipcovered furniture just has that relaxed easy vibe that you want in a seaside inspired home.
Gold and blues – I love bringing in touches of gold and blues. I have these gold frames in a my master and they’re such a good price for a larger scale frame. I also love the blue tone of these storage boxes (they come in white too). You also cannot go wrong with a classic blue stripe. These towels are the perfect coastal touch for a bathroom.
Do you love the coastal style too? Let me know in the comments!
