We’ve officially been in our new home for one month! I am happy to say that the transition has gone really well. The kids have adapted to their new home and new school so well and we have too.
We hired the cutest mover below.
3 excited kids waving goodbye to our old home.
This is our first time purchasing a resale home. Our previous two homes we bought new from builders so I was a little worried that it may take a while for this home to feel like ours. I wondered if it would feel like I was living in someone else’s home for awhile, but I’m happy to say that it felt like our home almost instantly and the more and more we change and update makes it feel even that much more like ours.
We have big plans for this home. We purposely bought a pretty basic home (interior wise) so that we could change it and update it to our style. I find sometimes when you have big plans for a space it can be hard to be patient and see the progress you’ve already made, because you just see everything you still want to do! But really, when I think about it, we have made a lot of changes in just one month. We’ve updated light fixtures (before and afters of that coming soon), we’ve hung curtain rods and drapery, changed out almost all the doorknobs (17+ and counting), swapped out toilets, installed new garage door openers, painted a dining room, ordered wallpaper and lighting and new furniture…etc, etc
From shiny brass, dented and tarnished to…
matte, black and gorgeous.
We went with these gorgeous gold rods in a lot of the rooms. Ill be doing a tutorial blog post on how I hung these faux pinch pleat drapes soon.
Seeing it all written down.. I’d say that’s pretty good progress for just one month in. So even though there are still a lot of things we still want to do (some are pretty big ones – like trim work, crown moulding, gutting bathrooms and the kitchen), I’m going to sit back and appreciate on the progress we’ve already made in our new home.
Amazing progress!! We bought two newbuilds as well before buying this resale, glad to know you guys all settled in quickly and it feels like home! ❤️
