If you follow me on Instagram then you probably already know that we’re moving! We’d been looking for a new home for about 9 months and hadn’t found anything that felt like ‘the one’. Then I saw a sneak peek of a home coming on the market soon… all I saw was a picture of a pool and a quick description. I immediately followed up and when we went to see it, we just knew it was perfect for us. The backyard is a dream (I’ve always wanted a pool!) and though it’s in a suburb it still feels private. The home is pretty original in terms of interior finishes though but thats exactly what we wanted. We wanted something we could fix up and make our own. We’ve sold our current home already as well and we move into our new one in a little less than a month! Though we are sad to say goodbye to this home, we are excited to move into this new one and cannot wait to share the new home and all the decor changes we plan to make to it.
Our new home is bigger than our current one and has a few rooms we dont have in this house (an office, a formal living room and a formal dining room) so we will need to buy some additional furniture for the new spaces. I’m trying not to buy too much before we move in but I have gotten a few pieces already which I’ll share below.
I plan on using our current dining table in our formal dining room at the new house so I needed a table for our new breakfast area. I searched long and hard trying to find a nice light wood round table and could not find anything that looked like it would be the right colour (and the right price). I came across this new table from World Market and decided to give it a try even though it was so new it didn’t have any reviews! They don’t ship directly to Canada so getting it here was a bit of a hassle but it finally arrived and I’m happy to say its perfect!
This light may look familiar if you’ve followed me for a while. We have the same light in our current home’s dining area. We just love this light. The capiz shells really add to that coastal vibe that I’m hoping to create in our new home and if you have the windows or doors open the breeze always blows into the shells and creates the prettiest wind chime like sound. It will hang over the round table above. Bonus – its been on crazy sale lately. Click here to shop it.
I have been eyeing a similar vase from McGee and Co for a long time but being in Canada the duties, shipping and exchange make it a pretty pricey piece. I found this vase at Urban Barn and its so similar to the other I wanted for a fraction of the price. I plan to place it on the round table above in the new home with some greens inside.
I ordered this chair from Wayfair and its a pretty good dupe of the CB2 chair I’ve loved for awhile but it’s a much more reasonable price. I actually have no idea where I am going to put it in the new home, maybe my bedroom?! I just loved it though and I will find a spot!
That is everything I’ve purchased so far for the new house, I have a few items I’m eyeing but I need to wait until we get into the new space… because everything I buy now I have to pack up and move too – as my husband keeps pointing out haha but I’ll be sure to share those soon!
